We went to the brilliant GATHERING STORM private view last night at The Proud Archivist on the Regents Canal. If you love album covers, then check it out (it’s on until Dec 2nd). It’s a showcase of The Album Art of Storm Thorgerson, the man who revolutionised cover art. Walking round is like a trip through your whole life’s record collection because so many are there (Storm designed covers for five decades)….. everything from Pink Floyd’s prism design on ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ to iconic covers for Biffy Clyro, AC-DC, Muse, Led Zeppelin, The Mars Volta, Black Sabbath. So many gems and some super cool obscure ones too. We particularly loved seeing some blown up huge as back-lit silkscreen prints – amazing texture and much bigger than we ever saw them on vinyl or CD.
It was also great to check out Hector’s new venue, The Proud Archivist, which is hosting the show, on the banks of the Regents Canal, which is part gallery, part eat-drink&play space. The show runs until December 2nd.
